I think it's humane if they die quickly. If they suffer, it isn't. If that matters to you, the only other way is to kill them yourself.
The most humane approach is keeping bugs out in the first place. If they can't get in, you don't have to kill them. Check that your window screens and door seals work, keep plants away from the walls, and take out the trash regularly.
The Katchy works, but glue boards are hard work. The flies don't die quickly but are stuck until they use up their energy reserves. If you want a kinder form of kill, an electric zapper is a better bet.
Glue boards aren't exactly humane because they don't kill quickly.
Yes, it's worth it. I'm glad I finally bought one.
I actually bought another one for the living room. It's great living without gnats. It took a little while to get them all, but I definitely recommend it.
The fight against gnats is a futile endeavor because these pests are only in the air for a week of their month-long lifespan. The fly strip is merely a means of monitoring the activity, not resolving it. Consider using "mosquito dunks" — they contain Bacillus thuringiensis, a harmless bacteria that kills the larvae without affecting pets or bees. It took six weeks to clear up a severe infestation I had, but it does work.
These are great, especially since I'm allergic to mosquitos. If one gets inside, you can simply turn the Katchy on, turn off the lights and fans, and place it away from you. It usually catches the mosquito within 30 minutes. The filters are easy to locate and replace. I use mine all summer. I have the Midnight model, and I often use it in my bedroom for an hour before going to bed.
I like mine. It also works well because we are in the Midwest, and it catches mosquitoes. My gnat problem was not bad, and this keeps it under control — the sticky pad proves it works. It's not perfect, but it's worth a shot. It gets mixed reviews because people complain it does not catch house flies, even though it clearly states it won't. Good luck.
Yes, it really does work. I have vivariums in the house, and Katchy is great for fungus gnats. I would definitely recommend it.
You can try the old school methods. Mosquito Punks work if you don't mind the smell. Or you can try the Raid for flying insects.
Katchy is really effective, although the sticky pads are way too expensive.
I used painter's tape to seal my window screens. Keep your bedroom door closed to keep mosquitoes away from where you sleep.
Get a zap racket and kill the mosquitoes.
Fruit flies breed in your sink drains. Every morning, pour baking soda and then vinegar down the drain. Once it stops foaming, flush it with boiling water.
I have a Katchy plugged into a smart switch. I have it on from sunset to sunrise, and I have not seen a fruit fly since.
I have a Katchy too. I had a huge problem with gnats and fruit flies due to my hydroponic system, but I don't have that problem anymore. If you're going to get one of these traps, get the third-party sticky paper. The name brand is overpriced, and there's nothing special about it.
They do catch flies, but the answer is to find the source.
No, not really unless you use the big industrial zappers. The little ones are only useful in determining how many flies you have, not in eliminating them.
I have had my sticky trap plugged in for three weeks now, and nothing has been caught on it. It is useless because I can still see insects flying around in the same room as the device.

Thousands of satisfied customers have reclaimed their homes from flying pests.
Finally bug-free! The Katchy Duo has been running in my kitchen for 3 months now. I can actually leave fruit on the counter without worrying about gnats.
Got the Midnight model for my bedroom. The auto mode is brilliant — turns on when it gets dark and shuts off at sunrise. Silent, effective, beautiful.
Florida summers are brutal for mosquitoes. Katchy Original keeps my living room clear. Worth every penny.
I was skeptical but the glue boards don't lie. Within the first night I caught dozens of gnats that were destroying my houseplants. Incredible.
The design actually looks good on my counter. My previous bug trap was an eyesore. Katchy fits right in with my modern kitchen.
Bought the Glue Board refills pack — great value. Easy to swap out, no mess, no contact with the bugs. Perfect.
Have two Katchy units now, one by the plants and one in the kitchen. Game changer. No more fruit fly clouds every summer.
The auto mode on the Midnight is my favorite feature. Set it and forget it. Woke up to a full glue board and zero living gnats. 10/10.
